Cable Wrapping
Wrap a Cable with the Over-Under method. Properly coiling cables instead of just randomly looping them can extend the life of the cable, and make it much easier to extend the cable tangle-free when ready to use.
Useful for guitar cable, extension cords, network cables, just about any type of electrical cord.
- Hold near the end of the cable in your left hand as if you are shaking hands with it.
- With your right hand, reach straight forward toward the cable and lightly grab it (hanging out of your other hand) and gently form a loop placing it in you left hand, rotating your hand so when the loop is formed and you are handing off the loop your thumbs end up pointing toward each other (this is the overhand loop).
- With the first full loop in your left hand, reach forward again with your right hand, but turn it thumb facing down this time, and grab the opposite side of the cable. Again make a loop with the cable, this time when you place the loop in your left hand, your thumbs should end up next to each other facing the same direction (this is the underhand loop). After the underhand loop, the cable will be hanging down between the two loops.
- Keep alternating between the overhand and underhand method, until the cable is fully coiled.
